I am interested in behavioural ecology and in particular sexual selection of insects. Specifically, I study pre and postcopulatory behaviours such as multiple mating and sperm allocation strategies. I have conducted research on factors influencing female choice in crickets, mate guarding behaviour in blue footed boobies and sperm depletion in tephritid fruit flies.
My interests lie in both theoretical and applied aspects of sexual selection theory, such as potential costs of mating. I also focus on ways of improving the sterile insect technique to reduce pest populations.
